Fun and games again at Patti's. Could be an interesting project for both photographers and writers. Not that the two have to be mutually exclusive, I guess you could submit one of your images and write a story about another photo. The project is in phase one right now, so scoot on over and share one of your photos.
Writers, stand by and sharpen those e-pencils. There are some pretty interesting categories for you to work in, and telling the tale of an image in a thousand words or less will tax your brain and talent.

If you like grain in your photos, you gotta love Kodak's HIE infrared film. If you are a real sucker for big blocks of silver, you'll fall in love with combining IR with lith printing techniques. Basically consisting of a gross overexposure of the photo paper combined with a severe underdevelopment in a dilute lith film developer, the process relies on infectious development to make its dramatic qualities possible.
I had a chance to teach my former photography instructor about the strange world of lith a few nights ago. During the session, I made both a silver and a lith print of two frames from the roll of HIE shot a couple of weeks ago. These may not be entirely safe for a work environment, but do provide examples of IR and lith's wonderful handling of skin tones.
Trying to get my equipment and mind ready for another trip back to the stream this weekend. I'll be better prepared this time and will probably leave most of the toys at home. It's looking like a pure pinhole shoot. More testing of that pesky Maco IR film is in order. I know I can find the right combo of exposure index and development to make it work in pinhole.

It's been a blue weekend for me. Not a sad one, but a busy one with the cyanotype process and some of the 4x5 pinholes shot last weekend. I'm still wrestling with the combined cyano and Van Dyke but don't have any more worth sharing just yet. Did have some better luck with the plain cyanotype, getting a nice print of Marion in White Water and another of her seated on a rock. I tried several variations with one of the IR pinhole negatives and will recycle some of them in experiments with Van Dyke.
