My Archives: January 2005

Sunday, January 2, 2005

I guess most folks spent their New Year's day recovering and trying to live through the morning after the night before. A pretty quiet evening here, with the fireworks at the Inner Harbor actually drowning out the gunshots at midnight... quite a change from previous years.

Most of the day was spent cleaning house, sweeping, scrubbing, rearranging, and generally decluttering. My photo toys corner is still in shambles but the rest of the house is all sparkly clean for the start of the year. A turkey breast went into the oven to roast and filled the house with that fine holiday aroma. A few hours of cooking and there's a feast for one night and leftover dinners for at least two more... yippee...no cooking needed to start the week.

It wasn't all house chores, though. You don't think I'd let a Saturday slip by without some small effort at photo play? I did a bit of alt-process work in cyanotype with a couple of 4x5 negs from the three photo sessions last week. The last shoot yielded some images which were quite a departure from my usual style but new directions can be fun to explore.
