10/26/2004 Entry: "a matter of focus"

Through the pinhole mailing list, I'm reading an article from the October 1890 Photographic Quarterly, Artistic Focus and the Suppression of the Lens, by Alfred Maskell. This artcle examining the usefulness of the pinhole in pictorialist photography naturally led to a search for more information on the group Maskell was instrumental in forming, the Linked Ring Brotherhood. The National Museum of Photography, Film and Television offers a short piece on a past exhibition examining the art of photogrpahy around the turn of the century, A Matter of Focus.

Hope to slip off to the darkroom tonight to get started on a bit of enlarged neg making from the nymph series with Xenia and to start on some more recent shots.
