07/09/2004 Entry: "good weekend ahead"

Looks like the weather is going to throw me a bone and deliver some prime photo fun sunshine for tomorrow. I plan on making the most of it with a drive up to Pennsylvania to shoot along a creek with several small waterfalls. I haven't seen the place yet, but a photographer from up that way and I are meeting tomorrow morning to see what we can find. We'll be joined by Maggie C., who I last shot with back in May. We only had a chance to do two quick pinhole shots to kick off the wood nymph series.

Pinhole Wood Nymph in Van Dyke

I'm looking forward to the chance to work with her at greater length. She seems quite enthusiastic in the few e-mails we've exchanged and that's a good start to a successful session. I hope she doesn't laugh too loudly at the silly nymph skirts I managed to stitch together. They're a great improvement over the cheesecloth/gauze used in the light paint series, but my sewing skills are pretty minimal.

All the toys are organized: cameras (2 35mm bodies/3 lenses, 6x9 pinClack, 4x5 wooden pinhole box, 4x5 view camera), film (Ilford Delta 100, Delta 400, Kodak HIE infrared, T-Max 100 for the 6x9, Arista Pro 125 to feed both 4x5s), meters, changing bag, tripod, cable releases, etc. Repaired my backpack for toting the smaller cameras and associated gear, now must find a way to rig a shoulder strap for the view camera case.

It'll be an early night tonight. I hope to be on the road by 5:00 am at the latest in order to squeeze as much into the day as possible. Crazy to drive for close to 3 hours just to shoot along a creek in the woods? Probably so, but when have i let that stop me.
