03/09/2004 Entry: "a few hours in the dark"

Monday's aren't generally my high point for energy and creativity but when it's the only day I can slip into the darkroom, well, I'll take what I can get. Most of the few hours was spent working on making some 4x5 interpositives on Arista lith film for later conversion to bigger negatives. It took some experimentation to find just the right dilution of Dektol (1:13 - a note to myself for later) to get some nice midtones but I now have about a dozen decent positives. I hope to have a total of 20-25 different images for my alt-process class final project. That might turn into 40-75 prints, depending on how many different processes I want to explore. I'm leaning towards an accordion book, with both cyanotype and Van Dyke. Still mulling over whether to do all cyano on one side and VDB on the other or do them as facing pages, flipping the neg to mirror the image.

Also found time to make a few more prints of the last shoot with Marion.
