01/26/2004 Entry: "orange car"

boxy

funky

and popuporange

Got the Jetta running one last time and made it to the car dealer to pick up the Element.

Quite a change to go from low sporty, if ancient and rusting, sedan to big box but a nice change all the same. It starts, it's quiet and I am still too nervous driving it to even turn on the radio.. no distractions, please... concentrate on driving.

It did well on the snowy roads, though it will get sideways if you take a slippery turn too quickly. I liked being up high and able to see ahead. All the controls are right where my hands look for them and simply designed. Still lots to learn about each other, with only a ten mile drive back from the dealer's so far. The roads are just too nasty tonight to go out and play.

Congrats on the new vehicle. I am interested to hear your opinions on the Element after you've been driving for a few weeks. I'd also be interested to hear what drew you to the Element and if you will be using it for any utilitarian purposes. Enjoy. Peace, --Will
