06/06/2003 Entry: "sunny day blue sky"

I snuck away from work yesterday afternoon. It would have been fun to get out and experiment with a few new cameras but I had to sit at home and wait for a service call on a broken oven. I did manage to squeeze some photo play in by burning a couple of cyanotypes. One was a simple still life for a photo group I've joined on DA. The other was an enlargement of a 35mm IR shot with Marion last summer.

infrared cyanotype

This was my second try at using a print as the interpositive to create an enlarged negative. I'm pretty happy with the way it worked out. The results, along with a day of bright sunshine, are enough to start pulling me out of the creative funk the recent gray rain weeks have sunk me in. More IR cyanotypes are an item on the to-do-list, as well as seeking out some more local models who are willing to do a shoot on a TFP (time for prints) basis. The way the infrared and cyanotype have combined to render the skintones has me ready to do more like this before the summer's over.
