07/04/2001 Entry: "We are not alone"

I'm always amazed at the number of folks who write to me after seeing this site and say that they also enjoy taking photos of cemetery art and statuary and how glad they are to know that there are others out there who share this strange little hobby. I'm kind of curious as to how many of us there are out there.

To that end, with quite a bit of prodding from someone who shall remain nameless, I've been working on setting up a sort of guestbook/self-portrait gallery for cemetery photographers. With the idea shamelessly borrowed from the Mirror Project but without the restriction of using a reflective surface, participation is open to any and all cemetery photographers.

If you like to join in the fun, send me an e-mail with:

the image, naturally... in JPEG format

Your name, e-mail address, URL of your cemetery photos site if you have one, the cemetery name and location, and a few words of wisdom to share about the photo you chose, why you shoot cemetery photos or whatever you'd like to share.

Very cool idea. I have some older shots (none with me in them, naturally) I took, one of which didn't turn out exactly, but ended up looking rather bizarre through some kind of light reflection/refraction where the grass looks afire and there is a headlight from a car showing that was actually behind me.

Um, yeah, let me dig those up, so to speak...

I've been called worse things than a nag... hehehe. Photo is on the way and I'm proud to be a contributor to this cool (cold? ;-) idea!
