Over 100 works from the Hallmark Photographic Collection are displayed in the exhibit "An American Century of Photography: From Dry-plate to Digital" at the Delaware Art Museum. Spanning from the 1880's to the present, the exhibit examines the works of four periods of stylistically similar or contrasting groups.

Beautiful black and white stills from a Jan Svankmajer film, "Ossuary", which documents the incredible Kutna Hora ossuary. It is estimated that between 50 to 70 thousand human skeletons were used in building this structure.

Wooohooo... even if it is in the weird/extreme category.

A Texas woman, who participated in a 2,300 trip by covered wagon to mark the Bicentennial, will make one last journey in the same fashion. Hazel Cross Bowen died Wednesday at the age of 93 and will be carried to the Antelope cemetery by a buckboard wagon that will be pulled by a pair of mules.

Happy Trails to You

A part of America died... a part of my childhood Saturday mornings, a bit of a reminder of what seemed to be simpler and happier times, though that is probably colored by the limited awareness that we have as children.

A bit later than promised but finally online...
The results of the latest experiments with Maco 820 Infrared film have been added to the Mount Carmel section. There are 5 new photos done with this film, which seems to have a lower contrast and lower IR sensitivity than the Kodak HIE that I have been using up until now. For a first try with the film, I guess I should be happy that anything at all came out. I was looking at this roll as a pure learning experience and I think I've gleaned enough to be able to improve the results from my next attempts with it.

Maybe I'll listen to my wife next time...
but then again, I probably won't, because I'm too stubborn and hardheaded to listen to common sense even when the proof of the wisdom of it is clear. Unfortunately, not too much is clear through this antihistamine haze, except that it is a very bad idea to call in sick on a Monday during the busiest part of the year. I do feel better for taking her advice and sleeping for three days, especially since my body was strongly suggesting the same thing. It is so delightful to be able to breathe through my nose. A simple thing but it brings so much to both the flavor of food and life.
