Some nice pictures, good tips and some thoughts on lomography at Perrone's Photography page. Only one cemetery photo, though. ;-(
Congrats, Butterfly!

Rich Clarkson discusses the power of the still photograph to engage the viewer in a captured moment in time.
From the silly and almost useless scripting department:
I used to work with a great group of folks as a volunteer in AOHell's web page development group, trying to explain such mysteries as why an image tag src attribute should point to the location of the file on the web server and not to a local drive. We really could have used a wonderful resource like Aol Technica: The internet moron's resource as a handy guide to aid in the creation and uploading (or should I say unleashing) of all the oh so "kewl" personal pages living in that money sucking pit masquerading as an easy to use path to the web.

I'm generally all in favor of efforts to clean up cemeteries. I just hope that the folks in Derry, N.H. don't get carried away cleaning up the Forest Hill Cemetery. I certainly understand the desire to provide a safe working environment for the groundskeepers but lets not interfere too much with the way that people want to memorialize their loved ones. Call me an uncultured trailer trash slob but what is so terrible about a couple of pink plastic flamingos? This cemetery sounds like a pretty cool place to me.
Digital is looking more and more attractive to me, especially after drooling over some of the CoolStuff:2001 offerings from Computer World. It's going to have to wait until the credit card balance comes down from holiday heights, though. I have to say that while I'd love a nice 3 or 4 megapixel cam, my pocketbook would probably only stand for a PenCam.
You can always rely on the New York Daily News to come up with some good headlines...Grave Appeal in Quest To Save Cemetery tops a story about an historical groups efforts to block the sale and development of the Brinckerhoff Cemetery, an 18th-century plot with about 77 graves.

Ah, yes, my friend!
Walking across campus early this morning, I saw a simple but beautiful sight. The low morning sun grazed across the top of a dark green hedge against a red brick wall. The golden stream of light touched down upon a light frost covering the top of the hedge, leaving the lower sections and the brick in shadow. I have got to learn to keep my camera with me.
Monday, December 04, 2000I may have mentioned this artist's work sometime ago but it is worth a second look. E. Katie Holm offers a delicious sampling of black and white cemetery photographs.
ZeroImage has introduced a new multi-format pinhole camera. Handcrafted of teak with polished brass fittings, it is as pretty as the pictures it takes.
This is one of the prettiest angel statues I've seen. It's a popular style of statue. I haven't run across an example in this town yet but I hope I do. It's a nice one.
The history of the Bluffton Cemetery, in Bluffton, SC is covered in this article. They've put up a new fence along the front of the cemetery but the real story is the old fence that separates the cemetery into a "white" section and a "colored" section.
Nothing to do with my usual subject matter, just a little sample of some holiday lights here in Baltimore. I put this together to try to cheer up my buddy, Kaycee. She's a little low because she's stuck in the hospital for the holidays. They won't even let her have a little artificial tree, so she's making one out of all the Christmas cards that she gets. She's resourceful and never quits, though I'm sure the docs and nurses wish she'd slow down for a minute or two. So, if your lucky enough to be able to get out and about this holday season, share some of the spirit by sending her a card to help her tree of love grow. The snail address is:
