Maybe it's the weather, cloudy, drizzling and generally not what one wants to see on a weekend, or perhaps it's just things on my mind but this is looking like a very gray day.

I am fortunate enough to work with a really great group of folks in a volunteer capacity for a large corporation. Lately, there have been some internal changes that are screwing things (and people) up. We have a truly incredible team of devoted and talented people and the jerks who are running the show are so far out of touch with what we do and how we do it that they are doing their best to completely destroy something that has been carefully built and nurtured for years.

Micro-management by the microcephalic. If I see one more "suggestion" from the idiots that covers material that is common knowledge and is written in such a sickly sweet condescending tone... Well, I guess it'll be time to see if eBay carries rocket launchers.

After I got all the work (at "day job") stuff cleared away this morning, I started wrestling with a few scripts for a client's site. Things seem to come together fairly well, at least as far as I can tell before actually testing them. ;) I need to meet sometime soon with them and go over what I have set up so far versus how they see their product line. I think it is a fairly logical and straightforward division of their product line into a managable number of subcategories and with any luck, I'll be able to convince them of the same.

They claim to already have photos of their stuff on a CD, which will beat the heck out of scanning the images from their print catalog. If I am really lucky, they'll also have a copy of the catalog text on disk. I don't mind copying and pasting, or better yet, using an include... but I sure hate having to retype stuff.

Submitted a short article on the Poe Toaster, the mysterious visitor to Edgar Allan Poe's tomb, to Raven's e-zine, Necronicles. If I don't do a brain fade and forget all about it, as is quite likely to happen, I might try to join the group that waits for the arrival of the Toaster each year on the anniversary of Poe's birth. No one knows who this person is or why they come each year to leave three roses and a bottle of cognac at the tomb. Fortunately, those who know about the visitor and his mission are willing to allow him to remain anonymous and to preserve the air of mystery. I'd love to get a shot of the roses and cognac but have absolutely no desire to attempt to photograph the Toaster.

I've been getting a number of inquiries concerning gaining access to the Old Saint Paul's Cemetery. This beautiful graveyard in the middle of downtown Baltimore is surrounded by an imposing stone and brick wall, with the only entrance blocked by a sturdy iron gate. The cemetery is affiliated with Old Saint Paul's Episcopal Church and if you give the folks at the church office a call, they'll put you in touch with a very nice gentleman who can arrange a tour of the grounds.

It's always time for sushi.

Is it the taste, the textures or the fun of eating way too much with good friends that makes it such a treat? Find some near you!

Got a very nice e-mail from Pandora, who is just back from a trip through the New England area and promises to have some new pictures of some wonderful old tombstones from that region.

I'll be the first to admit that the Northeast has some of the finest examples of funeral art and some beautiful old stones with delightfully frightening carvings. Even so, I have decided to limit the photos on this site to those in the Baltimore area. There are enough graveyards here that it should keep me busy enough trying to track down and document the finest ones. I still have some pics from New Cathedral cemetery to be scanned and uploaded and a trip to the east side of town is still on my "to do list". Hope to have some new stuff shortly.

Most of the weekend was devoted to enjoying the new Harry Potter book, "Goblet of Fire". Yes, I am nothing but a kid at heart and also enjoy watching Wallace and Gromit, if that gives you an idea of what I consider first class entertainment.

Not that the weekend was unproductive, The house did get a good sweeping, which we should do more often. It's amazing how much one dog and one cat can shed. The dust bunnies had grown to full sized rabbits and had become bold enough to poke out from under the furniture and go scampering across the room.
